I’m using igmpproxy for IPTV on openwrt-18.06.2-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin
In the past I’ve been bitten by a version of this bug:
https://dev.archive.openwrt.org/ticket/20443#
Basically igmpproxy will not always start or continue to work when the wan network does ifup/ifdown.
I solved it with the solution listed there:
““” /etc/hotplug.d/iface/40-igmpproxy with this content
#!/bin/sh
[ “$INTERFACE” = wan ] && [ “$ACTION” = ifup ] && /etc/init.d/igmpproxy restart
and run
/etc/init.d/igmpproxy disable
““”
That seems like a better default, maybe even restarting on any ifup and not just wan, to make it fullproof against weirder setups with interfaces named differently.

hostapd has built-in RADIUS server and capable to perform EAP authentication without external authenticator. Unfortunately OpenWRT package builds full version of hostapd with internal crypto backend. All functions related to EAP-
TLS
in internal crypto backend stubbed with empty bodies returning error immediately.
Recently I used FreeRADIUS running directly on my router, but it requires pretty remarkable amount of RAM. I ended up with
patch
for openwrt build specs in order to build fully functional hostapd. Also I made some ugly hacks in netifd scripts to compose proper hostapd.conf. Finally, I got working EAP-
TLS
auth virtually with no additional costs.
Probably support for internal RADIUS and some authentication methods should be added to LUCI/UCI configuration interface.
I guess secure WLAN is not a luxury feature and EAP auth is mandatory for modern secure networks.
My device is: TP-Link Archer C50 V1
My current OpenWRT version is: OpenWrt 18.06.0, r7188-b0b5c64c22

I don’t know if it is relevant, but the only thing different from normal is I had tcpdump sending data to Wireshark overnight (a single host on port 53, so it wasn’t terribly busy).

Origin: https://bugs.openwrt.org/index.php?do=details&task_id=2391
Context:
I am using one device in AP mode, the other in client mode.
The client uses wpa_supplicant to do
background scan
to other channels that the data channel.
I am running iperf (UDP)
from the A
P to the client.
My device is home-made, Cavium development board-based, equipped with Compex WLE350NX.
It works correctly with kernel 3.18 and the 2015 wireless backport.
I updated to kernel 4.9 and the wireless backport 4.19.32-1, the last one from the trunk. (previously I used backport-2017-11-01 with the same result).
I am running wireshark with Airpcap to spy the wireless link.
Problem:
* When the client scans offchannel, it correctly sends nullfunc frames around the offchannel period, with the PM bit set then unset.
* However, during this time, the AP continues to send data to the client.
* This results in a lot of lost frames, though I set the powersave buffers to high values on the AP side.
After some research I saw that the same kind of problem was fixed several times(*), but since there where so many changes in the queue management, I cannot really compare his work and the current state of the driver.
Any idea / patch / research directions ?

I want to get a *.factory.bin without kernel, but it is ineffective to set KERNEL_IN_UBI=0 in openwrt-18.06.2/target/linux/kirkwood/image/Makefile.
I got the wrong place in openwrt-18.06.2/include/image-commands.mk, line:177, it should be
$(if $(filter $(KERNEL_IN_UBI), 1), –kernel $(IMAGE_KERNEL))
Maybe it is the same wrong in line 176, but i’m not sure, because i don’t find where UBOOTENV_IN_UBI is used.

Since switching my WNDR3700v1 from Netgear’s firmware to OpenWrt 18.06.2 r7676-cddd7b4c77, I am experiencing the following issues:
1) PowerLAN adapters and network devices connected through it are only seen by the router if the first PowerLAN adapter is connected through a crossover cable. With the manufacturer’s firmware, it was possible to connect the adapter by standard ethernet cable.
2) A printer connected through PowerLAN does not get assigned an IP4 network address, even though I have defined a static address for it in the DHCP section of OpenWrt; (it does get an IPv6 address though). The missing IP4 network address prevents the scanner part of the printer from sending scans to a network folder on my NAS connected through ethernet cable to the router. This issue also did not exist with the original Netgear firmware.

On the web interface, if no wireless network is enabled, only “Wireless is disabled” is shown for all wireless networks on the “Wireless” page, in the “Wireless overview” list. No network names and/or modes are shown.
If there is only a single wireless network configured, there is no problem to identify it to enable. But if there are more than a single network (for example, two APs and one client), and you need to selectively enable just one of them, you need to enter “Edit” step by step to find the appropriate network.
If at least one network is enabled, “Wireless is disabled” is shown for each disabled network as well as their names/modes.
Please modify the code to show all network names/modes even if all of them are disabled. It makes sense to always use the same list format, regardless of wireless adapter is enabled or disabled.

Currently, opening a port on fw3 to allow a local server to be reached from the Internet via IPv6, requires the hardcoding of the destination IPv6 address in the
dest_ip
option. Here's the example on the
fw3 IPv6 Configuration Examples
wiki page:
config rule
option src wan
option proto tcp
option dest lan
option dest_ip 2001:db8:42::1337
option dest_port 80
option family ipv6
option target ACCEPT
Having an hardcoded IPv6 address becomes troublesome when the public IPv6 prefix changes. This can happen regularly with some ISPs, forcing users to edit the rule.
It would much helpful if one could specify a destination hostname instead of an IP address. fw3 would then have to check the current leases and translate the hostname.
An hardcoded IP address in the firewall rules was no issue with IPv4, since on most scenarios all destination addresses were local and could be statically attributed on
/etc/config/dhcp
. IPv6 public prefix delegation changes this and
IMO
requires more flexible rules on fw3.
This feature request follows the
How to set up OpenWrt traffic rule for port forwarding IPv6 server on my LAN?
question on SuperUser by James Johnston.

SNAPSHOT r9614-b614954, mwlwifi version 2018-12-18 c2c8244, hostapd-common - 2018-12-02-c2c6c01b-2
Run an EA3500 as AP, serving around 15 devices in a small open office. The signal level is good, SNR -ge 30. When using the default wpa_group_rekey value 600s, there were a lot of disconnections. More than 50% of App requests ended up with a timeout on some devices, such as an iPad. Trying different wpa_group_rekey in values wireless and leasetime in dhcp relieved the problem somewhat. But still many
random
connections and disconnections. The following log focuses on one device during a period of quiet time, with wpa_group_rekey being 3600s and leasetime 3600s as well. The problem/log is at least 15 times bigger/longer.

UCI configuration
dhcp.@host[n].ip
needs to be optional.
According to
http://www.thekelleys.org.uk/dnsmasq/docs/dnsmasq-man.html
. dhcp-host isn’t just for static leases, it can be used to specify lease time, hostname etc, so IP isn’t mandatory. Their example is “For example –dhcp-host=00:20:e0:3b:13:af,wap,infinite tells dnsmasq to give the machine with hardware address 00:20:e0:3b:13:af the name wap, and an infinite DHCP lease.”
OpenWrt currently ignores dhcp.@host[n], if IP isn’t provided.
